Volunteer Lake Assessment Program (VLAP)

Empowering lake friends to monitor lake water quality and engage in watershed management. Volunteers take water samples at different points around the lake, deliver them to the lab in Concord, and the lab does the tests. They test for chloride, phosphorus, algae, clarity, etc. This data helps DES evaluate the health of the lake and look for changes and trends. CLPA has participated in the program for 20+ years.

We are one of the 800 public lakes and ponds dedicating our volunteering efforts to help the state of New Hampshire with sampling to assist NHDES in evaluating lake quality through out the state. Please sign up to help do spring, summer, and fall monthly sampling. To learn more go to: www.des.nh.gov/water/rivers-and-lakes/volunteer-assessment-programs

Weed Watch Program

Steve Bortone, our resident aquatic environmental consultant, will coordinate our weed watching efforts again this summer. This is a program sponsored by NHDES where local residents survey the lake shore looking for invasive aquatic weeds, so that any new ones can be spotted early and dealt with. It takes an hour, three or four times a summer, to survey your assigned section of lake. It is light work and a good excuse to be out on the lake. Steve provides expert coaching. Thank you Steve! He can always use a few more volunteers. If you are interested, please sign-up.
